Nordic Ice-Breaker
Nordic Ice-Breaker is an Erasmus+ youth project that will be implemented in 2022. The project will work with youth participation and develop new participatory methods for young people. The goal is also to improve the dialogue between young people and decision-makers, sharing good practices and to improve the participation of young people in municipal decision-making.
The four town-twinning Nordic municipalities (Mikkeli, Borås, Molde, Vejle) have made an agreement of the Erasmus+ collaboration and participating in the Nordic Ice-Breaker -project. The official town-twinning meeting between the municipalities is normally held every second year with delegations from the four municipal councils. In 2022, the meeting will be held in Mikkeli. Because of the coronavirus pandemic this project has been postponed and now we have made an updated project timetable. We are going to arrange a preparation meeting (online) for young people and leaders in February 2022. During this meeting we will plan and work the schedule and the topics for the main youth meeting (live) in Mikkeli in August 2022.
The actual youth meeting in Mikkeli will be arranged 1.-5th of August 2022. Each participating municipality can send 10-13 young people aged 13-18 and 2 mentors, 48 – 60 participants in total. The meeting will work on topics raised by young people. There will be participating workshops and activities based on the themes and assignments and tasks to implement. Each country will arrange its own workshop during the meeting. Here we can learn from each other and work with different kinds of participatory methods.
The project is led by the youth services in Mikkeli in collaboration with the town-twinning cities Borås, Molde and Vejle.
